Parque Nahomi is a beautiful park located in Quepos, Costa Rica. The park is known for its lush greenery and beautiful views of the surrounding area. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at the park, including cliff jumping, swimming, picnicking, and birdwatching. In addition to its natural beauty, Parque Nahomi also features several amenities, such as picnic tables, a kayak or boat launch, and exercise equipment. Whether you're looking to relax in nature or get some exercise, Parque Nahomi is definitely worth a visit if you're in Quepos.
Getting here is very walkable, which makes it an ideal destination for someone traveling without a car. However, if walking doesn’t strike your fancy, you can definitely drive and park in front of the entrance as well. On foot, head down to Marina Pez Vela in downtown Quepos - when you are standing facing the marina, you will want to take a left. If you continue down this road for around 8 minutes, you will find yourself at the entrance to the park. Upon arrival, Parque Nahomi does sort of look like it may require an entrance fee. However, rest assured it is totally free.
At high tide, watching the waves crash against the rocks to the right of the entrance is an activity in and of itself. You might also catch locals cliff jumping at high tide. If you continue on a straight path right through to the edge of the park, it is here that the most daring will take a leap into the waters below. We would advise you to keep an eye out and observe others who are partaking in this activity before trying it on your own.
To the right of the park entrance is where the normal swimming happens. This is a rocky beach, so consider bringing water shoes if you have some. If you have a kayak or paddle board, this is a great place to launch from as well. You will notice a ton of blue kayaks near the front of the park that look available for use. However, we have yet to see these in action, and they don’t look like they have been used for a long while. There is a phone number on display to call but it unfortunately doesn’t seem to be functional. We think it’s best to assume these kayaks are only for show at this point.
The park offers a great calisthenics gym
if you are looking to work out. Equally entertaining is sitting on the benches nearby, taking it easy and watching others work out. You just might not reap the same physical benefits, but hey - we aren’t judging.
Sunset views from this park are absolutely breathtaking, so heading over here while the temperature drops in the late afternoon is perfect timing. You might want to bring a picnic and spend a few hours people-watching and basking in the evening sun’s glow for the
ultimate pura vida experience. Locals love to gather here to hang out and watch the sun go down.
Parque Nahomi is the ultimate local experience in Quepos, and a great way to spend a few hours. After the park, hit up the town center for happy hour for a perfect end to the evening. Pura vida!
